WPC Cladding for custom homes and residential builds

Manaco designs, fabricates, and installs full exterior cladding projects across the GTA. WPC is one of the materials we work with — usually paired with ACM, aluminum siding, or stone to create the modern multi-material facades you see across North York, Vaughan, and Forest Hill.

This page is for builders, custom-home GCs, and homeowners researching WPC as part of their project. The pricing, comparisons, and trade-offs below are based on the work we actually do – not theoretical numbers.

Where WPC fits in a Manaco cladding project

We design and install complete exterior cladding systems — and WPC is one of the materials that goes into those systems, depending on what the project calls for.
A typical multi-material facade might pair:

  • ACM panels as the primary modern surface
  • WPC planks or fluted panels for warm wood-tone contrast
  • Stone or brick at the base for grounding

WPC almost never appears alone on a full exterior. It works as the warm, textured material that softens harder surfaces – which is why it’s specified on the majority of custom homes we install across the GTA.

What WPC costs as part of a cladding project

Installed WPC cladding runs $24 to $28 per square foot in the GTA. But since WPC is usually one component of a larger cladding project, the more useful number is the project total — which depends on the full scope.

WPC vs Longboard vs Luxyclad

This comparison usually comes up when a project needs a wood-look material and the architect or homeowner is deciding between WPC and an aluminum equivalent.

The decision usually comes down to three things:

  • Code requirements: if the building falls under a non-combustible assembly requirement, Longboard or Luxyclad is the answer.
  • Budget: WPC delivers the wood-look at roughly half the installed cost.
  • Viewing distance: WPC reads more naturally up close. Aluminum reads cleaner from distance.

We work with all three on projects across the GTA. The right choice depends on the building, the elevation, and what it is paired with.

WPC vs real wood: when each makes sense

Cedar or Ipe, real wood:

  • Refinishing every 3 to 5 years.
  • Moves with humidity, and can cup and split over time.
  • Wins on natural grain variation. Nothing replicates it perfectly.
  • Right call when authentic character matters more than the maintenance schedule.

WPC:

  • No sealing or staining.
  • Does not absorb water.
  • Holds its appearance for 25+ years with capped systems.
  • Right call when long-term consistency matters more than perfect grain detail.

For most custom homes across the GTA, the maintenance schedule of real wood ends up being the deciding factor. WPC delivers the wood look for the life of the cladding.

What is WPC?

Wood polymer composite is made from wood fibers and polymer formed into planks or fluted panels under heat and pressure. Co-extruded systems wrap the core in a protective cap that resists UV, moisture, and surface wear. The cap determines how the material looks 5 to 10 years in. Older, uncapped products fade faster and mark more easily.

Manaco only specifies capped systems on cladding projects. We work with the major Canadian-distributed manufacturers and select the brand based on what the project calls for. Colour, texture, fire performance, lead time, and budget all factor in.

WPC projects we do across the GTA

We use WPC on custom homes in North York, Vaughan, Forest Hill, Lawrence Park, and Markham. We also use it on mixed-use commercial projects in Toronto and Mississauga, and full-exterior renovations replacing older stucco or vinyl with multi-material modern facades.

In every case, WPC is one part of a coordinated cladding system, designed, fabricated, and installed under a single Manaco contract.

Considering an aluminum alternative?

If your project requires non-combustible cladding for code reasons, or you want a woodgrain look in solid aluminum, see our aluminum fluted planks page. It is a newer product line with higher durability and the same modern wood-tone aesthetic.
