Modern Exterior

Charcoal ACM and Walnut Siding Define Hendon Avenue North York Home

Design Goals

  • Create a bold, modern look that complements the adjacent twin home
  • Use shared elements like Metallic Grey ACM to visually link both façades
  • Add warmth and contrast with vertical walnut-tone aluminum siding

Our Solution

  • Charcoal ACM Panels: Installed across upper volumes and framing elements to define the structure and create strong contrast
  • Metallic Grey ACM: Used on bay window covers and front entry posts to create material continuity with the neighboring home
  • Dark National Walnut Aluminum Siding: Placed vertically near windows and the front entry to add warmth and echo natural tones

Results

  • The home has a clean, structured look that balances bold contrast with warm accents
  • Charcoal and metallic elements give it a modern, high-end appearance
  • The use of common materials strengthens the architectural relationship between the two properties
Project Overview

This modern home on Hendon Ave in North York was designed as the twin to the adjacent house—both featuring custom ACM cladding and aluminum siding. To keep a consistent modern look while giving each home a distinct identity, we used a mix of shared and unique exterior materials. Charcoal ACM panels frame the front façade, creating bold contrast and architectural depth. Metallic Grey ACM—used on the bay window awning and front entry posts—ties the two homes together visually. For added warmth, we installed vertical dark walnut-tone aluminum siding to soften the white brick and enhance curb appeal.

“We wanted the two houses to relate, but still feel different. This one feels more dramatic with the dark tones, and it works perfectly with the warm wood touches.”
